    Insider Brief

    • RobCo has surpassed a $1 billion valuation in a transaction that brought in new investment and allowed some long-standing employees to sell part of their holdings, doubling the industrial robotics startup’s valuation in nine months.
    • Existing investors Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred, Lingotto and Promus Ventures participated alongside new investors including Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective, while RobCo did not disclose the amount of new capital raised or employee share sales.
    • RobCo plans to launch its Alfie autonomous industrial robot in March 2027 and is expanding in the U.S., its fastest-growing market, where customer operations now span more than a dozen states.

RobCo has reached unicorn status with new investment into the German industrial robotics startup allowing some long-standing employees to sell part of their holdings.

According to the company, existing investors Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred, Lingotto and Promus Ventures participated alongside new investors including Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective, a group of European technology founders. The company said the deal doubles its valuation from nine months earlier to more than $1 billion but did not disclose the amount of new capital raised or the value of the employee share sales.

The company is developing Alfie, an autonomous industrial robot designed for manufacturing work that is difficult to automate with conventional systems. RobCo said Alfie “combines perception, reasoning and physical execution to handle high-mix, unstructured and safety-critical tasks on factory floors.”

Founded in Munich in 2020, RobCo provides industrial robotics systems through a Robotics-as-a-Service model that does not require customers to make an upfront equipment investment. It plans to commercially launch Alfie in March 2027, at RobCoN, the company’s first annual summit in Munich.

RobCo currently operates in Munich, Austin and San Francisco. and the the company indicated that co-founder and CEO Roman Hölzl has relocated to oversee the company’s expansion in the U.S. expansion, which it described as its fastest-growing market. Customer operations now span more than a dozen states, supported by manufacturing and assembly operations in Austin, Texas, and a laboratory in San Francisco, RobCo noted.

“This is an important moment for RobCo, and I cannot think of a better way to mark it than by giving some of the people who built this company the opportunity to realize part of the value they created,” added Hölzl. “There was strong demand to invest in RobCo, so we used that moment to strengthen the company. A billion-dollar valuation is an incredible milestone, but we’re much more excited about what comes next: bringing the next generation of autonomous industrial robotics to factory floors.”
